I’m Sorry

Friend, what if one of us should pass

with anger still between us two?

 This fearful thought occurred to me

today as my thought’s; turned to you.

For years we have been just as close

 as siblings or the next of kin.

Yet here of late we’re far apart;

I wonder how this rift crept in.

I only know life’s not the same

when you are there; and I am here.

I never meant this gulf to grow

 I’m sorry; and I hope you hear.

  1. “…I never meant this gulf to grow…”

    It’s funny how gulfs happen when we don’t fellowship with a friend over a long period of time. Great word.
