As the New Year approaches, I desire to enter it with a new attitude. One founded on the promise’s of God, and not the fleeting thought’s of men. If ever this message inspired by the Lord needed to be heard, it is at this season and time.

This morning I woke up and found a notice on my p.c. Important data MUST be down loaded. I was assured it would not take long. I’m sure glad it wasn’t a lengthy or drawn out process. It took an hour and a half. It took longer to perform clean-up ,then it takes me to clean my whole house. I may be exaggerating; but not by much. But they had said it was important. Soooo.

Well I feel very strongly; the Lord is sending out a message to those of us who represent Him,It is very important we receive a down load [or re-load] from the answer book. That we be established firmly; dig our feet into the Rock so to speak. In order to build confidence in others we must first be confident.

One scripture that’s been coming to me is Romans 12:2; And be not conformed to this world {its way of thinking} but be ye ‘transformed’ by the renewing of your mind that ye may prove {demonstrate} what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

In renewing the mind [ or thought life] our minds are made new when we read {or feed} on the word of the Lord. Then take that word and pray over it [ dwell upon it; chew it so to speak] until it becomes a part of us.

When you eat something your body breaks it down and it flows into every part of your body. You then live or grow because of what you have put into your body. Our spirit and soul* {*mind, will and emotions} are created in the same manner.

So if the network news is our main source of data; we are going to go for the plunger. While if the Good News is where we get our data it tells us here in Romans 12 it will transform us.   Transform is from the Greek word,metamorphoo.

This is what occurs in a butterfly’s life. It enters the cocoon in one form and exits as a butterfly with wings. In this renewed state this same yet changed creature is able to fly. To rise above this earthly plain heaven ward.

Conformed on the other hand means to be formed according to outside pressure or circumstance.  Like a meat ball you take a glob of ingredients and roll it between your hands adding pressure and conform it into a ball.

Don’t get balled up. Get in place for some data that will help us; BE the answer to this world we are passing through.

Now that part about prove {to show or demonstrate} that brings us back to having and then giving the answers needed. 1 Peter 3:15; But sanctify the Lord, God in your hearts; and be ready always to give an answer to every man who asks you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear.

To sanctify means to set apart [or in plain speech respect and put first] the Lord. Agree with Him and what He says in your hearts or minds. That will in turn make us ready to give an answer;to hold out hope.

I bring to mind the song heard a lot in the last few years,’ Whose report will you believe? We shall believe the report of the Lord’.

As I read of the Lord Jesus’ life on Earth; and His example before the disciples I always notice His actions. When ever He was presented with a need or what may be called a problem, He met it head on.   I’m thinking of the feeding of the multitudes.

Four thousand at one event;five thousand at another. He simply took that which was available blessed it,gave thanks and began to dispense it to the disciples,for them to then give out.

He is the same today, yesterday and forever. He abides within us and told us, ” Verily,verily, I say unto you, he that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go to unto My Father.”

Remember the rainbow it was a sign of the promise. There are still rainbows in this earth God is still on the throne; His promises are still good. How ever there must be some rain for a rainbow to manifest. So be ready to give some one a hand and put that plunger away.

It struck me odd the other day

 as photos I did gaze upon.

 Of all the faces I did see

 four out of five of them are gone.

Eyes staring back; frozen it time

reminding me of yesteryear.

 Recorded echoes from the past

sweet memories; I shed a tear.

As I recall the sights and sounds

 of voices from so long ago;

 the silence of this passing day

 adds to the present sense of woe.

Turning the page then I did see

 eyes smiling; looking back at me.

 Without a word they seem to say,

 ” You know we’ll meet again one day,

So think of me with smiles sweet,

while you are there; and I am here.

For when once more we two do meet

twill be no place for grief nor tear.”

My dear friend and fellow Minister,passed away Friday.

This is for you Jo,and I shall.

She never sat down for supper that night
” I’ve eaten,” she told a white lie.
A glass of ice water just before bed
a few nights a week to get by.

He kept right on working, on his lunch break
Bill offered to share he declined.
” No I’m not hungry,” he lied with a wink
for pity he wasn’t inclined.

Little pinched faces I’ve watched in the store
while following Mommy or Dad.

Mean while those who promised, lied through their teeth
about all the ‘blessings’ they would bequeath;
stand in the shadows while others take blame;
all this they perform in government’s name.

The court is careless and callous, clueless and cold.
Without any regard for the lives which they hold,
in their legal hands to determine the way,
a child should spend his life, day after day.

On to the next case and a higher position,
no matter the consequence or the condition,
of the life he will lead in his father’s cruel hands,
it matters not, the law stands as it stands.

Tell us who hears, who listens to sad little cries,
of mournful boys saying woeful good-byes.
Blood has not bothered in these four years hence,
that the Dad will get custody just makes no sense.

But on to the next case, and why shed a tear.
New dire set of circumstance. this court must hear.
Pleading for wisdom, you may as well rest your case.
Common sense vanished, injustice took its place.

Please pray for this case, that Ricky will not be removed from his home. His court appointed GAL, has decided to run for judge, and simply gave up fighting for Ricky.

In  a  world, where we can pick up a phone, or push a button to e-mail, around the world in seconds, it seems like people are lonelier than ever.

In my dual field as Pastor, and private care giver, one thing I notice is people need to touch and be touched. To share life.  Sometimes the elderly cease to eat just because, they don’t want to eat alone. It’s really amazing how much difference a few minutes of our ‘Time’ can make in the lives of those we pass through ’Time’ with.

Lord,  please help us, be rid of selfishness, and give of our most costly commodity, our ‘Time’ our lives . Help us hear Your voice, and be Your hands, and give our ‘Time ‘, amen.

 A  poem;

I miss the Lady down the road

My Mom, and cousin too.

I miss my Dad and Grandma.

But I am not missing, you.

See ‘your’ included amidst the ones,

I ‘could’ see, everyday.

But sadly like most everyone,

I don’t go out of my way.

My way is much to busy,

to stop and talk with you.

But I intend to change that,

I detest flies and their kin.

I can’t stand to have them in my home.  Spotting a single fly will drive me from any comfortable chair, away from any guest I have, into the kitchen for my fly-swatter, and off onto an extended and single-minded foray.

I have a good life.  My God has blessed me with much more than I deserve.  I have a good home, a wonderful husband, three beautiful children and an outstanding son-in-law.  I have good health, good friends, food to eat, clothes to wear and a car to drive.  I am warm when it is cold and comfortable when it is hot.

But if a fly enters my domain – I become miserable!  I am angry and on a mission:  I must destroy!   Why?

Is it Fear?  No.  Odds are against the fly  doing me  physical damage by putting his dirty little appendages on anything I’m going to ingest.    I couldn’t tell you the number of flies I’ve had the displeasure of meeting in my fifty years.  Of those, several didn’t make it – though not NEARLY enough — but  I’m still here.   It’s not fear that sends me after a fly-swatter.

Is it Curiosity?  No.  We dissected flies in High School.  I got up close and personal then and I’m over that.

So what motivates me?
It’s simple – the fly BUGS me!  He takes my eyes off my blessings.  A fourth-of-an-inch-long bug enters my house and does a better trick than David Copperfield…He makes my house DISAPPEAR!   My party guests VANISH!    And for just a little while he is the center of my focus.  I forget every good and perfect thing because all I can see is FLY !

A corollary to this happens in my life:

1.) I get up in the morning feeling a little achy:
a. I can take a couple of pain relievers, and do a few stretches to try to get rid of the ache right away, or
b. I can stretch the pain out all day, knowing that nothing will look right and nothing will go right when all I can see is this particular ‘fly’.

2.) While waiting to check out in the 20 items or less line, I realize that someone in front of me has 24 items!
a. I can say with a shrug, “Oh well… C’est la vie”!  or
b. I can make a scene and call a manager.

3.) I attend a Professional baseball game.  A long, hard , driving ball comes right down the third base line and into the stands where I’m sitting.  Homerun!  Everyone starts to scrabble, but the ball Plops neatly into MY glove.  Wow.  Before I can even turn and show my friends, the man to my left elbows me, jostling the ball out of my glove, on purpose.   Now it’s HIS ball.  Do I:
a. Scream for back up, ’cause it’s ON!  or
b. Shrug and think, ‘what a poor, sad fellow’ (and hope someone pours beer down his back when we all sit back down.)

I’m not saying how I did on this exam, but the question is: Do I focus on the flies or on my Life?

Let me give you one more example.
This morning I took my youngest child to school.  On my return route, I was following a brand new 2012 Lincoln, when suddenly, a moth appeared between me and the steering wheel.    (Not a snake, not a thief, not a murderer: a moth.)

Though I am not afraid of moths – in my mental filing cabinet, they are classified with flies.  And I instantly began trying to shoo it out the window.   It was only by luck that I noticed the cars up ahead had come to an abrupt stop, because I was focused on the ‘fly’.  An accident was avoided, but it could have easily been otherwise. (Don’t tell my hubby.)

There are so many beautiful things in this world, so many wonderful conversations, and so many tasks we can undertake and complete, if we won’t allow ourselves to focus on the blemishes of this world.

I know I’ll always want to get rid of the flies, but my goal is to keep them in perspective.  I have a wonderful life.  Hopefully the flies won’t make me forget that.

This is a picture,of a church my husband,and his family,went to when he was a teenager. It speaks a sad song to my heart..The Gospel Center,The Good News Center, the place where those in need of hope,could find it…As you can see by this recent picture,it is no longer open,tho the door stands ajar…I wonder,if the lost in the world,see us {those who say,we have the Gospel} in this same condition…Still taking up space in this crowded earth, but empty,no longer alive,no longer holding out hope…So occupied with debating,over endless ,dots and commas,in the Precious Word,that we’ve forgotten the essence of that word…To give LIFE to those who need it..I have to say,I still need it ,life that is..The life that was {and is} found in the simple words of Jesus..It seems the Camp of the Lord,is so divided, we have those who will stand for nothing, and those who debate over any thing and every thing…Matt.22: 36-40,{Amp.} Teacher,which kind of commandment is great and important[the principal kind] in the Law?,37 And He replied to him,You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.{intellect} 38 This is the great [most important,principal]and first commandment. 39 And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as{you do} yourself.40 These two commandments sum up and upon them depend all the law and the Prophets…Don’t get me wrong,I believe we should earnestly contend for the faith,as the word instructs,but for the purpose of gaining back those misled, to the One fold..So that we can ALL be about our Fathers work,reaching those who have not yet heard the Good News…Maybe we need a fresh dose of that Good News..Isaiah 58:4[Amp} The facts are that you fast only for strife and debate and to smite with the fist of wickedness.Fasting as you do today will not cause your voice to be heard on high…Sounds like this attitude of heart, causes our prayers to go unheard..Not good news…Oh Lord bring us back to the First Love,,St.Luke 5:31 {AMP.} And Jesus replied to them,It is not those who are healthy who need a physician,but those who are sick..Meaning the lost, but I ask,”Is there a Docter in the house”?   2 Cor. 11:3{k.j.v.} But I fear,lest by any means,as the serpent beguiled Eve,through his subtlety,so your minds should be corrupted from the SIMPLICITY that is in Christ..Where is that Docter?
