We have probably all, heard the saying”You need to dust off the Bible”…Implying that some one is neglecting, their walk..But in a time when daily devotionals,,and dozens of different versions of the bible cram the shelves..It would seem “some one” is reading..People carry their bibles in service after service..But there is so much more to,relationship than, simply reading the text of the bible..One of the saddest sights I’ve ever beheld,,is the sight of ,one who’s relationship with the Lord has become a fond memory..You can see it in their countenance,,a sadness behind the eyes..Even tho, there may be a smile on their lips, it doe’s not touch the eyes..If you have a sensitive heart and keen ear,,you may even hear the cry of their heart…They may never change their”habit”of regular attendance..Sadly tho it could be said,,”they are there in body only”..Just as in a marriage,,we can fall into being room mates,,rather than soul mates..Our walk with the Lord can become,a habit of convenience..The fruit of “habit” is not life..The life is in Him,,in abiding,in Him..I don’t intend to,,condemn or add to any ones sorrow,,but to shed light on a snare of the enemy..See he really doe’s not care how much religion we have..What he doe’s not want is vital,,life giving relationship..So any entrance he can gain to begin to hinder, that relationship,,he will jump on..The bible instructs us to”Be not ignorant of satan’s devices”,his ploys or tactics..His plan has not changed since the garden…Separate God, from His most beloved creation,,us…I have learned this sad lesson, first hand,,even as a minister of the Gospel..But the Good News is,,once we see,,where there is need,,we can ask,,seek,,and knock..He will throw wide ,,the door of entrance..You know in the parable of the prodigal son,the prodigal, who walked off,one day opened his eyes..When he determined to go home,,the Father was waiting and ran out to meet him..That is our Father’s heart..But notice the seemingly faithful son,,who continued all those years at his fathers side..If you look at his attitude and words,it will give you a perfect example of religion,,rather than relationship..You can find this teaching in St.Luke chapter 15..When the joyful father threw a feast,,the son who had religiously stayed,,grew angry..He accused his father of not celebrating him..When a study is done on his words,,he says to his father,”I Slaved for you”..This is how cruel religion, warps,,relationship,,and eventually destroys it..If any of this touches a chord in your heart,,Please run to the Lord,,He is faithful and has promised to hear our cry and answer our prayers..”When you Seek Me with your whole heart, you will find Me”sayeth the Lord….Don’t settle for memory’s,,grab a hold of the Living God..” Father, in Jesus name we pray, for renewed relationship with You,,in every area of our lives,,quicken us Holy Spirit,,Jesus revive our passion,,for You,,be First, in our hearts, and minds,,now and forever,,amen.” sis.c

I often find myself needing to dust off my Bible..when thing tend to go bad I tend to use my Bible daily..Then when things get going good, I don’t pray as much..it’s in these times I know inside that I need to “dust off my Bible”. and let Him know He is still in my heart…This post was powerful for me. Made me remember that I need to pray daily…
